Prashant Kothari is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director at Alpha Alternatives.
With over three decades of extensive experience in investment management across the world, Prashant has worked with many large, best in class hedge funds. His expertise lies in developing, implementing and executing investment strategies to deliver high quality returns.
Prior to joining Alpha Alternatives, Prashant worked as an Investment Director at Dymon Asia, one of the largest Singapore based hedge fund, co-managing ASEAN and Indian equity investments. He was the cofounder and equity portfolio manager of Ashiana Capital Pte. Ltd, an Asian equity focused long-short fund. He also cofounded and managed the Asian portfolio for Geosphere Capital, a global hedge fund headquartered out of New York
In his sell side career, Prashant worked as a Director at Deutsche Bank, selling Asian equities to US investors in New York. Prior to that he was the Head of India Sales at Raymond James & Associates, Vice President at WI Carr Securities. During his equity sales career, he was voted as the best salesperson for Indian equities globally by international investors twice.
Prashant has completed his quadruple Postgraduation and his quest for learning has led him to do various accreditation courses. He is a Postgraduate in Management Studies from IIM Ahmedabad, India, Chartered Financial Analyst (both US and India), M.Com, B.Com. He is also a professional life coach - Associate Certified Coach from International Coaching Federation.
Sudipta Dhar is the Executive Director at Alpha Alternatives. With over two decades of experience in the financial sector, Sudipta is an expert in principal investing and has transaction experience across Southeast Asia, India and Australia. He has deep experience in structuring, credit evaluation and portfolio management. Prior to Alpha Alternatives, Sudipta worked as the Deputy CIO for GCS Capital Management, an investment advisor in Singapore. He has been a part of the firm when it entered an exclusive advisory mandate with Meritz Securities Co Ltd (Korea) to originate, evaluate and manage private debt investments across the Asia Pacific Region. Under this mandate, GCS Capital executed US$ 500mm of deals across the APAC region. He has also co-managed a US$ 50mm fund-of-one for a large US distressed fund looking for exposure to Asia. Prior to GCS Capital, Sudipta worked as a Director at Merrill Lynch - India and Hong Kong. As the India Head, he was responsible for the structured finance and securitization book. He also had the additional responsibility for managing investments in an Australian mortgage lending platform and for distributed deals out of Southeast Asia. He has managed a team that made investments of over USS 1 billion, across structured finance, securitizations and private equity. Sudipta has worked at various other leading financial firms in India, like Citibank NA and ICICI Bank. He is a graduate from St Xavier’s College, Calcutta and has completed his Post Graduation in Management Studies from IIM Ahmedabad. An avid learner, Sudipta has also completed beginner language courses in Korean and Mandarin
